Vannessa Hearman (vannessa.hearman@curtin.edu.au) is a historian of Indonesia and Timor-Leste based at Curtin University in Western Australia. Her book on East Timorese refugees, titled The Good Sea: The Journey of the Tasi Diak and the Politics of Refugee Protection in Australia, is being published by Melbourne University Publishing. Vannessa is a member of the board of Inside Indonesia.

Tim Mann (timsmann@gmail.com) currently works in the development sector in Timor-Leste. He holds a PhD from Melbourne Law School and is the author of Defending Legal Freedoms in Indonesia (Routledge, 2024). Tim is an associate of the Centre for Indonesian Law, Islam and Society (CILIS) at Melbourne Law School and also serves on the board of Inside Indonesia.
